This is our first “Just Because” post and what better way to start it off than with a post about my favourite band, INXS?

I have loved INXS for years.  I can still remember when I first heard Michael Hutchence on the radio.  His voice was sweet!

Here’s the song that first really hooked me:

Since Michael’s passing in 1997, INXS has had a few different singers front the band, and my personal favourite has been JD Fortune.  He did an amazing job while he was with the band and I am so bummed that he’s no longer with them.

I’m glad that I got to see them live once more–below are some pictures from their last concert in Toronto.

Nice! I fell for Hutch the first time we met in June of ’83 when music producer Mutt Lange brought them to meet me. I had been working with Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott writing Pour Some Sugar On me after he discovered me in May ’83. Mutt Lange and Island Records founder Chris Blackwell were soon brought in. Hutch and I wrote many songs together over the years. I enjoyed your random post.

Thank you Amy! That’s wonderful that you got to work with Michael. He was a very talented musician.

Hutch had a beautiful voice, and not only encouraged me but inspired me as a songwriter. His loss in my life is greatly felt.

That’s a wonderful experience to carry with you. Sometimes, when we need a bit of inspiration, we play INXS. Michael’s voice was really extraordinary. His passing was felt by many, we’re sure.
