We get lots of questions and since they often are the same ones, we’ve answered them below:

What does Letters and Lipstick mean?

The name is reflective of our mixed interest–that of the literary world with the fashion/fun world. Since we love both books and girly stuff, we wanted a name that would reflect that in a fun way.

What topics do you blog about?

Since we love both fun and serious things, we blog about a combination of what we find beautiful, useful, delicious, inspiring, artsy stuff, and interesting writing information.

What did you study in school?

Both of us graduated from the University of Toronto. Marilyn has a double major in History and Sociology, and Isabel has a specialist in History and Political Science. We’ve both also taken various writing classes and workshops since graduating from university, and we’ve also taught High School English.

What have you written?

We’ve both written a variety of material, separately and together. You can find out more detail about our other works on our About page.

Stargazing from Nowhere is the first novel in our YA Chick Lit Stargazing from Nowhere series. It’s also the first novel we’ve written together.

You’ve written screenplays, plays and novels. Which do you prefer?

Hmmm…That’s a good question. We love all of these forms, and don’t really have a favorite. One thing that we can say is that screenplays and plays are really focused on dialogue, which we love writing, but the challenge with screenplays and plays is that they’re really difficult to bring to life, which is a bit of a drawback, but they’re still really fun to write, and it can be really exciting to collaborate with others on them, if they get to that point.

Novels, specifically a YA Chick Lit novel, are super fun to write, and we had a lot of fun writing ours. While there is a lot of emphasis on good dialogue as well, there’s a bit more room for writing description, narrative, etc. The great thing with novels, is that they’re easier to access than screenplays or plays.

What’s Stargazing from Nowhere about?

The best place to find out more about it, is by visiting Stargazing from Nowhere.

How did you get started writing a blog?

We started our blog as a way to compliment our YA Chick Lit novel, Stargazing from Nowhere. As we edited our novel and occasionally posted on the blog, we realized that what we really wanted to do was to have a blog that would be about things that Chick Lit fans, like us, were interested in. We wanted to capture the fun and as well as other lifestyle elements of the genre.

How can I contact you?

We can be reached via email, Twitter, Facebook and many more. Check out our home page for the social media icon that you wish to contact us with.

Where do you post from?
We usually post from our hometown, Toronto, Canada.

How often do you post?

What camera do you use?

We actually use a few different cameras. When it’s not too heavy to carry around, we use a NikonD50, otherwise we use the compact Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 or our iPhone cameras (mostly for instagram) when we’re on the go. We’re actually learning how to take better photos, so hopefully, you’ll see an improvement over time.

Can I use your photos?

Yes, provided you credit us or link back to us since we have the copyright to all the images we take.

I’ve noticed you’ve had a guest blogger. Do you welcome guest bloggers?

Of course. Anyone interested can contact us.

Do you guest-blog for other blogs?

We haven’t, but welcome the idea. Anyone interested in having us guest-blog could contact us.
