Clean makeup at Sephora has definitely changed how I approach beauty products.
Years ago, I wouldn’t ever have considered wearing clean makeup. I was loyal to one brand and one brand only, and nothing would sway me. It didn’t help that the only natural makeup products available were only sold at the local health food store (anyone from Toronto remember Noah’s on Bloor?). The lipstick and eye shadow colours were meh, and once applied, wore off before lunch. How could I give up my pressed powder, which left my face matte all day, and my Twig lipstick, which stayed on after I’d had lunch?
Thankfully, today, there are many more choices when it comes to clean makeup – in terms of colour, quality, and effectiveness.
There are many wonderful brands that are conscientious about what ingredients are used in their products, and ironically, their products are often nicer than the toxic makeup available for sale. Since your skin is your largest organ, you want to ensure that you are only applying non-toxins.
It’s still important to read the ingredient list, but a lot of places, such as Sephora, have made this a little easier for you to navigate. They often have a list of what is clean or vegan, so you can take a look at each of the products you’re interested in to double check that it’s truly clean.
Below, I’ve listed the clean makeup I bought at the Sephora spring sale this year. Some products I’ve used before, but in different colours, and others I’m trying for the first time. Also, I am not receiving any affiliate commission from these links at this time.
Clean Makeup: For Your Base
- Westman Atelier Vital Skin Full Coverage Foundation and Concealer Stick. This foundation stick is so smooth and provides a nice amount of coverage, without caking. Definitely a new favourite. This is shade Atelier 0.
- Isabel and I also use ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 Foundation (not pictured), which is super hydrating, provides a lot of coverage, and has SPF! These are both part of my makeup routine now; however I only wear one at a time depending on how much time I have to get ready or where I’m going.
- Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks Lip + Cheek Cream Blush Stick This is also a nice, smooth product that provides good pigmentation for the cheeks. This one is the shade Chouchette, which is a nude peach. I don’t usually like peach or coral tones, but this isn’t overly orange. It’s a nice shade when you want something a blush other than pink.
- Another great shade is Petal, which is a dusty nude rose for when you do want more pink than peach. Both are great for summer.
- Saie Mini Glowy Super Gel Lightweight Dewy Highlighter I wasn’t entirely sure I needed a new highlighter, so I bought the mini size. You don’t need a lot of product to get that nice, shimmery glow. Apply this on your cheekbones, cupid’s bow, or any other area you like to highlight, either before your foundation or after for a subtle, dewy glow. Perfect for summer.
- I also like to use RMS Highlighter in Champagne (not pictured), but it’s no longer sold at Sephora.
Clean Makeup: For Your Lips
- MERIT Signature Lip Lightweight Matte Lipstick This lipstick is so smooth and hydrating. Plus, the colour is neutral with a hint of dusty pink. I received compliments all day when I recently wore it. Bonus: I had a cup of coffee and it stayed on. This shade is Classic.
- Westman Atelier Squeaky Clean Liquid Lip Hydrating Lip Balm This lip balm can be applied on its own or over lipstick. In addition to having a glowy pink colour, it also makes lips look fuller. This is shade Chou Chou, which is a pale pink.
For Your Eyes
- Westman Atelier Eye Want You Lengthening + Volumizing Clean Mascara A sturdy mascara that doesn’t irritate the eyes. It also provides lengthening and has managed to stay on all day without smudging. This is the Clean Black shade.
Your Final Step
- ILIA Soft Focus Finishing Powder Isabel asked me, “So, you wear powder on top of powder?” Well, sort of. This is a setting powder that you apply at the very end of your makeup routine. It sets the makeup and provides an overall glow. It’s great for the summer, although the packaging is a bit annoying. It takes a bit of work to open it so the powder comes through. While you want glowy, you don’t want sweaty.
What are you favourite clean make up products at Sephora? I’d love to hear your suggestions.

Great recs!! I’m more of a clean skincare girly, but I would love to start incorporating clean makeup as well. The blush looks so dreamy!
