GETTING THERE

There is a free newsletter called Daily Drop, but the Daily Drop Pro is a subscription service for all your travel needs. Daily Drop Pro focusses on flight deals, flight points search, hotel points search, as well as wallet and awards. If you want to take advantage of credit card perks, be sure to check this out.

Skyscanner is a great tool for finding affordable flights. It searches hundreds of airlines and travel sites to help you compare prices and discover the best deals. Make sure to use the “Everywhere” search feature which helps you find the cheapest times and destinations to travel.

AirBnB

Booking

Vrbo

STAYING THERE

Vrbo is great for booking vacation rentals, especially those that offer more space and privacy than a typical hotel. You can book entire homes, apartments, or unique stays in destinations around the world. Vrbo is especially beneficial for those looking for longer trips or even group trips.

Booking has always been one of the easiest ways for us to find and book accommodations when travelling.  Their easy cancellation process is super helpful as plans do change and it's good to know that you won't be penalized if you have to cancel or change your hotel booking. Make sure you pay special attention to the dates of cancellation. Their maps of hotel locations are also very helpful when deciding where to stay.

We often browse Airbnb when looking for unique places to stay while travelling. It offers everything from private rooms to entire homes, making it a great option for longer stays or travellers who want to immerse themselves more in the local scenes.

Express VPN

BEING THERE

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is one of our must-have travel tools. It keeps your internet connection secure when using public Wi-Fi in airports, hotels, and cafés, and it also lets you access websites that might be restricted in certain countries. Banking overseas became much easier after we started using a VPN.

We use GetYourGuide to book tours, activities, and skip-the-line tickets when we travel. It’s a simple way to discover the best experiences in a particular destination—whether that’s a walking tour, cooking class, or day trip. This is a convenient way to plan memorable experiences on your travels.

Viator is an excellent resource for finding and booking tours, activities, and travel experiences around the world. From guided city tours and day trips to food experiences and attraction tickets, it’s an easy way to discover amazing things to do in a destination.

Clube de Fado

PORTUGAL TOP RESOURCES

We've celebrated our mom's birthday at Clube de Fado more than once and it's the one Fado place we always recommend to friends visiting. The Fadistas are always excellent and the ambiance is perfectly authentic.

A comfortable and scenic way to travel within Portugal. There are many schedule options to choose from and it's also a more affordable and relaxing way to travel between destinations.

When we first started to visit Portugal and were overwhelmed with figuring out the different neighbourhoods and which sights to see, these tours helped us get oriented.
