Two Flash and One Poem
November is a great month to cozy up and indulge in some shorts reads. As the weather changes and becomes crispier and cooler, you can hibernate with some amazing reading material.
This week, we’re showcasing somber, reflective works.
The first piece listed below is by Madeline Anthes, who writes amazing ghost stories and who we’ve mentioned before.
The second piece is by Exodus Octavia Brownlow, whose use of long titles has become part of her signature style as has her thoughtful writing.
Lastly, we’ve shared a poem about the month of November by Lisel Mueller, which we hope you will love as much as we do.
Let us know in the comments, which piece is your favourite. We’d love to hear your thoughts.
Two Flash & One Poem – Our Selection of Riveting Reads
- “The Last One,” by Madeline Anthes
“And then I ride my bike to the old house where I grew up. And they’re there, appearing and disappearing like clouds across the lawn.
Sometimes they can see each other. Sometimes they can’t. Sometimes they can move objects. Sometimes their hands pass through walls and they sink through chairs….”
Madeline Anthes
- “So, You Want to Live Forever Even Though Death is a Kind of Forever, Too?” by Exodus Oktavia Brownlow
“-never having to get old. To stay young. It’s so romantic!
I don’t think, one girl breaks out into a solo, that a girl should get to the age of 30.
Preaching from behind the paranormal prayer book, studying the scripture to find a way to forever….”
Exodus Oktavia Brownlow
- “In November,” by Lisel Mueller
“You have already made the coffee
and the radio brings us music
from a confident age. In the paper
bad news is set in distant places.
Whatever was bound to happen
in my story did not happen….
Lisel Mueller
